Becoming a Patient
Members of the public may potentially register as patients if they are living in the Practice area (as defined by the map) and expect to be so for a minimum of three months. Patients who live north of the River Ouse should register at the Charles Hicks Centre and patients who live south of the River Ouse register at the Roman Gate Surgery.
You may be able to register with the Practice if you live out of the area but it is a more convenient location such as near your work or closer to your children’s schools. Note that this is a voluntary arrangement for the Practice If the Practice has no capacity at the time, or feels it is not clinically appropriate or practical for you to be registered far away from home, then they can still refuse registration and will explain their reasons.
The Practice is happy to also register and see temporary patients, visitors to this area who are only staying a short time. We do not have any private patients but visitors who are not eligible for NHS treatment may be charged a fee, payable at time of treatment.
A Training Practice
The Hicks Group Practice a Training Practice linked in a teaching capacity with Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge. Trainee registrars are attached as general practitioners to either of the surgeries, usually for a period of 4 months.
Dr Soni is the registrar tutor and along with the other surgery staff members will teach all necessary examination and diagnosis skills. If you would like more information about the teaching programme then please contact Dr Soni.
